1/16 Big Tank Series No.9

Japan Ground Self Defense Force Type 10 Tank (Display Model)

Item No:36209

10 out of 10 for Accuracy
This epic 1/16 scale plastic display model assembly kit owes its highly accurate recreation of the Type 10's form to the extensive cooperation of the Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF). From the 120mm smoothbore gun to the svelte angular armor and modern turret, this model gets the details of this state-of-the art tank spot on. It also features realistic non-slip surface textures. An aluminum barrel forms the centerpiece of the accurate depiction of the main gun. With metal parts used to recreate the chassis, drive sprockets and suspension arms, the model has an authentic weighty feel. A commander torso figure is included to further raise the realism. 3 marking options recreate JGSDF units.

Introducing the Type 10 Tank
Officially approved in 2010, the Type 10 reflects the latest military technology and needs of the modern Japan Ground Self Defense Force. The state-of-the art tank features a L/44 120mm smoothbore main gun with stabilizers, and an automatic target tracking system that functions with tremendous accuracy even when the Type 10 is on the move. Compatibility with the C4I (command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence) system ensures units operate in harmony. A 1,200hp diesel engine and continuously variable transmission secure impressive mobility with the hydraulic semi-active suspension. Modular armor sections on the hull and turret provide top level protection, and can be removed to allow swift transportation of the tank. Deployment began in 2012, as the JGSDF looks to phase in the Type 10, in place of the Type 74.
