【 Taking on the Porsche 935 】 Based on the Toyota Celica Lift Back 2000GT, the Celica LB Turbo Gr.5 was created to comply with the Group 5 racing category rules. A 2,090cc 560hp engine powered the lightweight machine and it defeated Porsche's 935 Turbos to seize an impressive victory at Round 4 Belgium during the 1977 German DRM season. Tamiya's R/C model of the Toyota Celica LB Turbo Gr.5 faithfully reproduces the car's long-nose, short-deck form with polycarbonate, while the rear wing, rear wing plates, and headlight parts are separately molded for enhanced realism. Included markings allow depiction of car No.68.
【 Evolved Chassis 】 The bathtub frame of the evolved shaft-driven 4WD TT-01 Type-E has its motor and battery close to the ground for lower center of gravity and optimum balance. Mounted on the bathtub frame is a fiberglass reinforced nylon upper deck and gear covers improving rigidity, as well as a 3-piece tie rod providing a smoother steering action. The low center of gravity, great balanced design, 4-wheel double wishbone suspension system, and front and rear differential gears all come together to produce excellent operating ability. In addition, slick tires are mounted on 2-piece mesh wheels with metal-plated rims.
