【 Taking On the 750 】 The RZ350 debuted at the 1979 Paris Motor Show as the RD350LC and became available in Japan in 1981. This bike incorporated features which were developed from Yamaha's racing bikes, including a 347cc liquid-cooled 2-cylinder 45hp engine, front double disc brakes, and monocross rear suspension. Due to its high performance, which allowed it to take on larger 750cc displacement bikes, the bike was given the Japanese nickname "750-killer."

1/35 British Army Centurion Mk.III

A Successful Design
In 1942, development work began on the Centurion, a British heavy cruiser tank designed to counter the power of German armor. Notable design features were the sloped frontal armor (a first on a British tank), powerful 600hp engine, and Horstmann suspension. Firepower was taken care of by either the 17 pounder (76.2mm) gun or its 77mm variant. An initial batch of six Mk.I Centurions was finished in April 1945, and while that was too late for them to reach the front lines before the German surrender in May, work continued on new Centurion variants: the Mk.II was given a new cast turret, before being superseded in 1948 by the upgunned Mk.III and its 20 pounder. The Mk.III Centurion first saw combat action in the Korean War, proving its worth time and again in the desperate back-and-forth struggle. In later years, it was exported to militaries in Europe, India, Israel and Egypt.

Russian Heavy Tank KV-II Gigant

Meet the Gigant!
The Winter War between the Soviet Union and Finland, which broke out in November 1939, saw fierce fighting as Soviet troops struggled to break through the fortified Mannerheim Line. The KV-II heavy tank was developed to help provide the finishing blow - this highly recognizable vehicle used the KV-I chassis mounted with a massive, boxy turret whose size was necessitated by the use of the 152mm howitzer. Coupled with armor up to 110mm thick (the KV-II was intended to be used in a support role), this meant that the KV-II weighed in at no less than 52 tons, and when one considers that it was over 3 meters tall it is not difficult to imagine why it was nicknamed the "Gigant" by German soldiers - who also made the unpleasant discovery that it was impervious to all but their 8.8cm guns, after hostilities between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany had begun in 1941.

Adapted to the Desert
The Long Range Desert Group (L.R.D.G.) was a mobile unit that the British Army employed in North Africa during WWII, and which was tasked with harrying Nazi German communication lines. One of the vehicles that they relied upon was this 1.5ton truck, modified for use as a command car. With economy of weight a primary consideration, the roof and doors were removed; the vehicles were further localized with the use of run-flat tires, a radiator condenser and sand mats, while firepower was added with Lewis or Vickers guns.

A Versatile Workhorse
Mobility was a key to all WWII militaries, and one way that Nazi German forces tried to secure it was through the use of semi track vehicles. The Sd.kfz.7 was one of the more famous examples, and found numerous applications in the war effort, from the transportation of personnel and supplies, to towing anti-aircraft pieces such as 20mm and 37mm guns, and even the rescue of stricken armor. Perhaps it is most noted, however, for its use in towing the famed 8.8cm anti-tank gun that German forces used to such great effect.
